Boden Municipality is facing new exciting challenges, including the creation of new residential areas and operational areas for both industry and commerce. We at the Community Building Administration, Physical Planning Unit, have an important role in achieving the municipality's vision of 33,000 inhabitants by 2030, and we actively work to increase our municipality's attractiveness. The Physical Planning Unit has 20 employees distributed across the subject areas of comprehensive planning, detailed planning, GIS/MBK analysis, and land and exploitation. The unit needs to strengthen its team with a GIS engineer with measurement technical competence.

Here you find the closeness of a small community, combined with the grandeur of nature right around the corner. Want to live close to work? No problem. Here you can get everywhere by bike – or a short car ride – and have more time for life outside of work. Children have safe school routes, and culture, sports, and community life are vibrant and inclusive.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a GIS engineer with us, you will work on developing, maintaining, and quality assuring the geographic information used in our operations. You will be an important part of the work to create map data, analyses, and data support used for planning and managing the municipality's areas and facilities. The role includes working with both ongoing maintenance, measurement, and more development-oriented tasks. You contribute to improving our working methods and GIS solutions, participate in collaboration with other administrations, and provide support to other colleagues who use geodata in their work.
The work may also involve interpreting drawings, conducting field measurements, processing data, creating analyses, and developing information structures that strengthen our long-term planning.
Together with the GIS team, you will be responsible for system maintenance, maintenance of the geographic databases, management of our software, maintaining and developing the municipality's GIS platform, map production, and geographic analyses in connection with our assignments.
We work with ESRI software and actively work on the implementation and development of a portal solution in ArcGIS Enterprise. We also work with GAIDA/Geosecma and CAD. For database management, we have SQL Server and ArcSDE. We use Leica's GNSS instruments and total stations in our measurement assignments.
We actively collaborate with neighboring municipalities on shared operational support and working methods. With us, you will participate in development projects, face technical challenges, and contribute to a digitally progressive community building.
Why apply for the position with us?
With us, you will work in a context where GIS is a key function and where your knowledge has a significant impact on the operations. You will join an engaged and development-oriented department that values professionalism, collaboration, and long-term capacity building. There is an opportunity to work with flexible tasks; both daily tasks and more strategic development issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
You should be an educated GIT/GIS engineer and have practical experience in measurement technical work.
